Locals on the bench

A group of locals were spotted taking a break in the sun on one of our garden benches this morning. Two flew off before Sue got the camera switched on.

This is actually the first time we have seen house sparrows at Roskhill.

Hi Sue and Richard

Thought the photos of the garden looked beautiful. I did like the photo of the sparrows too - having a bit of an interest in bird-life myself. We had 3 jays in out garden recently but I was far to slow to get a photo of them. The weather down here has been decidedly unseasonal. I think we've had the BBQ out about twice this year. We're off for a walk in the New Forest on Sunday with some cousins followed by lunch in a hotel (they are a bit posher than us - personally, I'd prefer a pub!) Fingers crossed that we see a bit of sun and not too much rain!
Just keep thinking of us suckers that are still working, won't you?

Hi Sara, I hope your weather today has been as perfect as ours - it's wall-to-wall sunshine here today, with a breeze to blow the midges away - perfect walking weather!

Don't ever believe anyone who says it rains all the time in Scotland!

That's a really nice picture Richard. I wonder if sparrows are making a comeback? To my delight I've seen a flock of them visiting my garden (in between the rain storms) several times in the last few weeks. These are the first I've seen here, and back down in Wiltshire I hadn't noticed any for decades.
