Washing machines...

Here at the Barn we do not hear much of our upstairs visitors - the place is pretty well soundproofed... however, we can hear the washing machine when it is running.

Last week we had a washaholic - the machine was used 14 times in one week...

Tonight, Sunday, it is running again. These visitors arrived yesterday...

Now, is it me, or are we suffering from washing-machine abuse?!!!

The bad news Richard is that there is such a breed. The friend I'm staying with is definitely a wasahaholic. Leave any garment around for more than 24 hours and it's likely to be swept up & thrown in the washing machine without any prior warning. I do protest but it has no effect. Not only is it environmentally bad, but it costs money to run the thing and also the more you wash clothes the quicker they are going to wear out. I'm all for hygiene but unless you're working in a dirty environment most clothes can be worn more than one day.

Strangely my friend doesn't show the same enthusiasm for washing bedclothes so I have to plead for that to be done. And showers are the same too - any excuse to have 2 a day is taken.

Fortunately I'm not paying the electric bills here. As an amateur psychologist I judge it to be addictive behaviour but with no known cure. Hopefully you won't get too many more visitors with this strange affliction!
